Information about the Public Hearing

When I began teaching Let's Play Music in May of 2012, I lived in Loveland.  I began my business in my home there and when we sold our home and moved to Windsor, shortly after (10 minutes away,) I neglected to get my business license for the city of Windsor.  With the chaos of moving during the school year, and running a brand new business, it just slipped my mind, to check if guidelines were different in the new town.
It was brought to my attention on Feb. 27th, 2015 that I needed to update my license for the town of Windsor. I promptly followed up and was filling out the business license application, when I came to the Home Occupation Registration section.  I was able to meet every guideline, except for 1.  The code that states If your business involves tutoring/instruction, will there be more than 2 students in at the home at any one time.  Let's Play Music classes involve teaching 4-8 children at a time, so I marked Yes to this category and called the planning department to ask what I should do.  I was told I am not able to have a business in my home unless I apply for a variance and the board approves it.
There will be a public hearing, on Thursday, March. 26 at 7pm in the Windsor Town Hall, located in the board room on the 3rd floor.
301 Walnut Street
Windsor, CO
Interested citizens are invited to attend and provide comments on this proposal.
I will be presenting on why this small business is not inconveniencing our community and should be supported by the town.
I would love your support in person, if you are able to attend, please join me to show the town of Windsor, Let's Play Music benefits the community!
